In this article of, it reports that Apple is "looking into" reports of issues being experienced by iPhone 3G users who have upgraded to the company's new iOS 4. We at ITT also reported that the iPhone 3G is behaving sluggish when updated to iOS 4.0 and iOS 4.0.1. See THIS post. Meanwhile many blogs reporting that turn-off the Spotlight search function will make the iPhone 3G behave like a iOS 3.x while running iOS 4.0+. To shutdown Spotlight do the following:
Settings/ General/ Home Button/ Spotlight search, turn search indexing off for all items (uncheck them).
This reduces the overall workload of the system, so it appears to give an overall performance boost that is significant.
Meanwhile we wait and watch this excellent comparison video of the iPhone 2G vs 3G vs 3GS vs 4
